Commanders Considering Signing 3-Time Pro Bowl Receiver
Noah Brown out. Odell Beckham Jr. in?
As the Washington Commanders prepare to secure a surprising playoff spot in the final month of the NFL season, they'll need reinforcements to do so. With the disappointing season-ending injury to Noah Brown, the team will surely look to add a receiver to add to rookie sensation quarterback Jayden Daniels' arsenal.
Brown, who suffered an internal injury, had been one of the season's most pleasant surprises. Signed just before the Week 1 opener after being cut by the Houston Texans, he was the Commanders' third-leading receiver with 35 catches for 453 yards. His lone touchdown was a memorable one: the Hail Mary game-winner against the Chicago Bears.
Terry McLaurin and tight end Zach Ertz will continue to be targets No. 1 and 1a, but what's left behind them are Olamide Zaccheaus, Dyami Brown and Luke McCaffrey. They have combined for only one touchdown.
Entering Sunday's game at the New Orleans Saints, the Commanders are looking for help. Earlier this week they signed K.J. Osborn off waivers from the New England Patriots. Now they have a chance to add three-time Pro Bowl receiver Beckham, who was released by the Miami Dolphins Friday morning
In nine games with the Dolphins, Beckham had only nine catches for 55 yards while being lost in the shuffle behind Tyreek Hill and Jayden Waddle. At 32, he has obviously lost a step or two. He hasn't had a 1,000-yard receiving season since 2019, though he did help the Los Angeles Rams win the Super Bowl as a late-season addition in 2021.
The Rams and Buffalo Bills are potential suitors for Beckham, along with the Commanders.
