Week 4 Fantasy Football Injury Updates: Andrew Luck, Drew Brees, Jordan Cameron, Dwayne Allen
Welcome to Week 4, where more big-name fantasy quarterbacks are finding their way onto the injury report. First, we lost Tony Romo. Next, Drew Brees and Jay Cutler did not play in Week 3. Then Ben Roethlisberger went down in Week 3 and it will be a month or more before he’s back on the field.
To make matters worse, we found out mid-week that Andrew Luck was dealing with a shoulder injury. So which of these ailing quarterbacks should you count on in Week 4? And what about the injured tight ends? Check out the latest injury updates on these positions below and don’t forget to check on the running backs (here and here) and wide receivers too.
Note: All games are at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday unless otherwise noted.
Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Questionable – Shoulder
Originally expected to be a game-time decision, reports out of Indianapolis early Sunday are that Luck will NOT play today. Matt Hasselbeck will take the reins for Indianapolis, but fantasy owners should consider all their options, including these five possible replacements, before making their decision. Luck's absence also impacts other Colts, as WRs T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief should be downgraded, while RB Frank Gore and TEs Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen (if he plays, see below) should see bigger roles today.

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys (Sunday, 8:30 p.m. ET)
Probable – Shoulder
Brees sat out Week 3 with a shoulder injury. Leading up to last week’s game, it did look somewhat promising that he might play, but Brees was unable to get much of anything on his throws in practice, so the Saints decided to rest him. The good news is that both Brees and head coach Sean Payton were happy with this progress during the week and all signs point to him being active Sunday night. He typically plays best at home in prime time, so this is a great matchup for him. Because of the injury it's hard to recommend Brees as a sure-fire QB1, but he definitely has that potential.
Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders
Questionable – Hamstring
After pulling his hamstring during Week 2, Cutler sat out Week 3. He practiced in a limited basis over the past week and is questionable. The Bears will likely test out his hamstring in warmups and see if he is good enough to play. He has a great matchup against Oakland, but because of the possibility of re-injury (and not having No. 1 WR Alshon Jeffery), he's a low QB2 if active.
Jordan Cameron, TE, Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets (London) (Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET)
Questionable – Groin
Cameron was on the injury report with the same groin issue last week and he did play. While he only had three receptions for 16 yards, he did have eight targets. The matchup with the Jets is tough, but he will likely play. He's a TE2.
Dwayne Allen, TE, Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Questionable – Ankle
Allen missed Week 3 with this ankle injury, but he did put in limited practices this week. He shouldn't be started in fantasy leagues even if he is active because of the injury and the uncertainty at quarterback. Give him another week as the Colts play Thursday night in Week 5.
Ladarius Green, TE, San Diego Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET)
Questionable – Concussion
Green has practiced, but he still has to clear the concussion protocol. In Week 3, it looked like he thought he might play, but he ended up on the inactive list. With Antonio Gates returning from suspension next week, Green's fantasy value takes a huge hit. Because of the nature of his injury, don't count on him for Week 4.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers
Doubtful – Shoulder
Seferian-Jenkins looks to be out for a few more weeks, so it was surprising to see him as doubtful, rather than already declared out for today’s game. Regardless, he's not playing in Week 4. Check back next week to see if he gets any closer to seeing the field.
Vernon Davis, TE, San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET)
Doubtful – Knee
Davis injured his knee in Week 3, and he is not expected to play this afternoon. Don't look to his backup (Garrett Celek) for a fantasy fill-in; just avoid the 49ers’ tight ends this week. The offense has struggled as it is; this is just one more obstacle for them to overcome.
Julius Thomas, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts
Out – Hand
Thomas is still out, but he did practice in a limited capacity this week. He has not been cleared to play, but may be ready in two weeks. If you have a roster spot, he's worth stashing.
