Here are this week’s picks from Athlon Sports senior editor John Gworek:
Thursday’s Game
Seattle at San Francisco
San Francisco’s defense has been consistently bad for five weeks. Seattle is 2–4 despite leading in the fourth quarter of every game.
Gworek's Pick: Seattle, 26–13.
Sunday's Games
Buffalo vs. Jacksonville (in London)
The Bills will likely be without both starting wideouts, but it’s time for the defense to put up or shut up against the Jaguars (30th in scoring).
Gworek's Pick: Buffalo, 20–10.
Tampa Bay at Washington
Both of these defenses rank in the top 10 in yards allowed. Tampa Bays coming off of its bye, Washington gets a week off after this.
Gworek's Pick: Tampa Bay, 23–21
Atlanta at Tennessee
The Titans seemed to be getting better, especially on defense, until getting housed by Miami. A loss here will mean an 0–4 homestand.
Gworek's Pick: Atlanta, 30-21.
New Orleans at Indianapolis
Indianapolis is still looking for its first win outside of the AFC South. New Orleans ranks seventh in total offense but dead last in defense.
Gworek's Pick: Indianapolis, 31-23.
Minnesota at Detroit
The Vikings won the first meeting, 26–16. The Lions finally got going on offense last week (546 yards) but still turned it over three times.
Gworek's Pick: Vikings, 21-17.
Recommended Articles
Pittsburgh at Kansas City
The Chiefs have played just two home games and managed to give both away very late. The Steelers have a league-low three turnovers.
Gworek's Pick: Pittsburgh, 24-19.
Cleveland at St. Louis
The Rams have already faced the Seahawks, Steelers, Cardinals and Packers. The Browns’ two wins are over teams that are a combined 2–9.
Gworek's Pick: St. Louis, 21–20.
Houston at Miami
The Texans defense has been decent (11th overall) and finally started forcing turnovers. Miami may have new life under interim coach Dan Campbell.
Gworek's Pick: Miami, 26–24.
N.Y. Jets at New England
The Jets are eighth in offense and first in defense. So why does this feel like it will be just another easy Patriots win?
Gworek's Pick: New England, 24-17.
Oakland at San Diego
The Raiders had a week off to regroup after losing two in a row. The Chargers have the league’s top offense but turnovers have been killer.
Gworek's Pick: Chargers, 30–20.
Dallas at N.Y. Giants
The Giants started fast and finished ugly in a Monday night loss to the Eagles. Dallas turns to Matt Cassel at quarterback.
Gworek's Pick: N.Y. Giants, 23–14.
Philadelphia at Carolina
The Eagles have turned the ball over at least twice in all but one game this season. That’s not a winning formula against the Panthers.
Gworek's Pick: Carolina, 27–24.
Monday’s Game
Baltimore at Arizona
The Ravens have five losses, all by six points or less. The Cards are 0–2 when they fail to force a turnover and turned it over six times in those games.
Gworek's Pick: Arizona, 31–20.
Week 6 Record: 7–7
Overall Record: 56–35
