Canucks Forward Couldn't Afford Taylor Swift's Vancouver Concerts: 'Tickets are just so Insane'

Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" has reached the end of the line.

Vancouver, British Columbia will host the iconic singer-songwriter's final three shows, which will take place at BC Place — home of the Canadian Football League's BC Lions. The three-night extravaganza begins on Friday before finishing with Sunday night's concert.

The city of Vancouver has spent the last few days planning for Swift's arrival, even adding 700 extra police officers to the streets. After all, the "Eras Tour" isn't the only show in town this weekend, as the Canucks will be playing two games at Rogers Arena throughout the next three nights.

One of the biggest Swifties on the Canucks, Jake DeBrusk, was hoping to catch Swift's Saturday show, which is the team's night off. Unfortunately, just like a good chunk of the musician's fanbase, the veteran forward couldn't afford the price of admission.

"I wish I could go to this one, but the tickets are just so insane," DeBrusk told Canucks Army's David Quadrelli, adding that he doesn't have any hookups in the BC Place box office. "At least in Boston, I was there for a couple of years, so I had people help me out to get some tickets."

According to StubHub a the time of writing, resale tickets for Swift's upcoming Vancouver shows are still pricy.

The cheapest ticket for Friday's show currently sits at $602 CAD ($425.42 USD), while Saturday's most affordable tickets are available starting at $749 CAD ($529.30 USD). It'll then cost any interested Swifties at least $911 CAD ($643.79 USD) to see Sunday's finale.

While the cost of tickets may have priced him out of attending this weekend's "Eras" concerts, DeBrusk isn't too bothered after previously seeing Swift perform at Gillette Stadium in 2023 when he was a member of the Boston Bruins.

"(Swift) was in the pouring rain, I gained a lot of respect for her for playing out there," DeBrusk said. "It was three hours of her literally getting drenched on out there. But we were sitting, me and my girlfriend, we had some pretty good seats."

After spending the start of his career with the Bruins, DeBrusk signed a seven-year, $38.5 million contract with the Canucks. Even though he's only played 24 games in a Vancouver jersey, it didn't take long for some of his teammates to catch on to his love for Swift.

Canucks teammates Brock Boeser, Aatu Raty, and Tyler Myers each declared DeBrusk as the biggest Swiftie on the team in a social media post on Thursday. Nils Hoglander made his case by stating that "Love Story" was his favorite Swift song, however, it's clear that a decent chunk of the roster is on DeBrusk's side here.

This weekend's "Eras" concerts mark Swift's return to Vancouver for the first time since she brought the "1989 World Tour" to BC Place in August 2015. Whether or not DeBrusk will find a way to attend any of the upcoming shows remains to be seen.
