LeBron James Makes Olympics History in Team USA's Game Against Puerto Rico
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Team USA moved to a perfect 3-0 at the Paris Olympics with a win over Puerto Rico on Saturday. James finished with 10 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in the win.
After play on Saturday, James is now averaging 14.3 points per game, 7.3 assists per game, and 6.7 rebounds per game in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Through Team USA's first two games, FIBA had James ranked atop their Paris Olympics MVP ladder. It is hard to imagine that will change after the Lakers star helped lead Team USA to another convincing win on Saturday.
A USA Basketball veteran, James is playing in his fourth Olympics this summer. Not only does the Lakers star rank near the very top in several different Team USA categories, but he is one of the most accomplished basketball Olympians of all-time.
Making Olympics history on Saturday, James moved into fourth place all-time in career assists at the Olympics:
With 22 assists through Team USA's first three games, James ranks first on the team in that category. James' 7.3 assists per game rank fourth at the Paris Olympics, which is especially impressive when considering he ranks top-20 in both points and rebounds.
One of James' eight assists on Saturday went viral, as he found Joel Embiid with a behind the back pass:
Looking for his third Olympic gold medal (2008 and 2012), James has Team USA positioned well to accomplish that goal. Undefeated in the Group Phase, Team USA will look to continue their dominance in Paris.
