The 2026 Winter Olympics are over, and now it’s time for the best in parasports to take center stage and showcase their talent. The American Paralympic delegation is looking to return to the top of the medal table, following a strong showing at the Winter Games led by Mikaela Shiffrin, who won gold in the slalom event.
Team USA’s 2026 Milan-Cortina squad made history by securing a top-two finish in the medal tally — their best result since 2010. The achievement was highlighted by the women athletes, who won eight of the 12 gold medals the team brought home.
Shiffrin is joined by Breezy Johnson, Alysa Liu, Elana Meyers Taylor, Liz Lemley, and the U.S. women’s hockey team among the successful American female athletes in Milan.
“It was an extraordinary two weeks for Team USA, with athletes showing passion, resilience and integrity every step of the way,” said Rocky Harris, Team USA Chef de Mission for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
“The depth of this team and the achievements they delivered are a testament not only to their individual commitment to excellence, but also to the strength of the systems that support them.”

Shiffrin was among the first to express that support through her Instagram story. The 30-year-old skiing icon reposted a Team USA Instagram post sending off the Paralympic athletes.
The U.S. Paralympics team finished fifth in the previous edition, a drop from their first-place standing at the 2018 Games held in Pyeongchang. They won 20 medals in total — six gold, 11 silver, and three bronze.
This year’s delegation is led by the men’s para ice hockey squad, the defending champions in the sport, as well as Oksana Masters and Dan Cnossen, who have won a combined 11 gold medals in para Nordic skiing.
Other notable participants include Jake Adicoff in para Nordic skiing, Noah Elliott in para snowboarding, and gold medalists Brody Roybal, Declan Farmer, and David Eustace, who have led the sled hockey team to three titles.
