Currently mired in one of the longest losing streaks of the Barry Hinson era, the Southern Illinois Salukis will try to right the ship when they tangle with the 13th-ranked Wichita State Shockers in a Missouri Valley Conference tussle on Wednesday night.
Led by a team-high 23 points, 11 rebounds and six steals from Desmar Jackson, the sixth-seeded Southern Illinois Salukis withstood a late rally to upset the third-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers, 63-58, in a quarterfinal game of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at the Scottrade Center.
Seth Tuttle had 19 points on 6-of-8 field goal shooting to go with seven rebounds and seven assists, as the Northern Iowa Panthers handled the Southern Illinois Salukis, 73-54, in a Missouri Valley Conference clash at the McLeod Center.
