Athlon Sports visited with Oregon football recruit Dontre Wilson.
DeSoto High School is a storied program located just south of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Elite athletes in all sports have walked the halls of D.H.S. including 2013 Athlon Consensus 100 prospect Dontre Wilson. The smallish running back has the ability to score on any play and will be used all over the field. This means the 5-foot-10, 175-pound dynamo could land on offense, defense or special teams on the next level. He can catch passes, run the ball, will be used in the return game and could even end up in the defensive backfield. His explosive, big-play ability gives him the chance to compete for early playing time.
Wilson is headed to play for the Oregon Ducks and the fans in Eugene should be extra excited about this Lone Star talent. The Ducks have an extremely successful history of luring top-rated Texas talent to the offense (LaMichael James, Darron Thomas, Lache Seastrunk) and the DeSoto's star skillset is a perfect fit in the up-tempo, Pac-12 scheme.
