Roger Federer settles the yellow or green tennis ball color debate
The internet is also abuzz with this question, which seems to be the sports version of the age-old “Is a hot dog a sandwich?” debate. Officially, tournament tennis balls are described as “optic yellow,” but fan descriptions during a recent Twitter poll were colorful, to say the least — including chartreuse, neon yellow, greenish yellow or “gellow,” lime green and day glow yellow.
The question was tackled by none other than 20-time Grand Slam singles title winner and current ATP No. 1-ranked player in the world, Roger Federer, 36, who was asked by a fan leading up to the Miami Open. “They’re yellow, right?” said Federer. Game, set, match. Yellow.
