Connecticut Sun Star Facing Intense Backlash After Slamming Fever Fans
The Connecticut Sun lost a tough one on Wednesday as they fell to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, 84-80. What made this hurt even more for the second-seeded Sun is that this happened to be their first loss in four games.
Connecticut star DiJonai Carrington did all she could for her squad, scoring a team-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. The 5-foot-11 guard also logged four rebounds, two assists, six steals and zero turnovers in 32 minutes of action.
Unfortunately for her, Carrington's strong performance still came in a losing effort. This could explain why the 26-year-old was in a feisty mood after the game. So much so, that she decided to fire an unfiltered shot at the Fever fans in attendance at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
"the indiana fever have the nastiest fans in the W. ew," Carrington tweeted on X, formerly Twitter.
Unsurprisingly, this savage statement immediately blew up online. As of writing, the tweet has garnered well over one million views already.
It also doesn't come as a huge shock that Carrington is now facing some intense backlash from both Fever and WNBA fans.
"Not used to interacting with a team that actually has fans?" asked a user.
"Ngl I'd be pissed too if I got cooked 😭😭😭😭" reacted another.
"Now Dijonai I’m a supporter but where were these tweets at when y’all won the first 3 games? Gotta take the L on the chin," noted a fan.
"Oh looks like y'all feelings hurt😂😂😂 Take the L and move on," a comment read.
"You taunted and got smoked. Don’t be a sore loser," said another.
"You mighty wanna check who you calling nasty. Fever had royalty in the house @Simone_Biles," reminded a user.
While there were some fans who agreed with Carrington's hot take, the general reaction on the mean streets of Twitter was absolutely not in her favor.
Perhaps DiJonai will want to think twice the next time she decides to mess with Fever fans.
