Caitlin Clark Tries To Intervene During Heated Moment In Fever-Mercury
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are visiting Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and the Phoenix Mercury for their 20th game of the season.
Midway through the second quarter, a confrontation erupted between the two teams. As each team was regrouping in their respective huddles, a heated exchange unfolded between the players.
Tensions escalated as Fever forward Temi Fagbenle and Mercury guard Natasha Cloud engaged in a verbal altercation, prompting Clark to step in and separate Fagbenle from the situation. Clark grabbed Fagbenle by the arm and pulled her away from Cloud, but Fagbenle was persistent and kept the argument going.
During the exchange, four technical fouls were awarded. Two technical fouls were given to Fever players Fagbenle and Erica Wheeler, and two more technicals were given to Mercury players Cloud and Kahleah Copper.
At the time of the altercation, the Mercury held a 36-30 lead, and Fagbenle had been awarded two free throws after drawing a foul. She hit both, decreasing the Fever's deficit to four.
Indiana is looking to break their two-game losing streak with a win over Phoenix. This is the first battle of the season between the two teams.
