WNBA Fans Try to Identify When Angel Reese Was Hurt

Late Saturday night, Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese shocked the country by announcing she had suffered a season-ending injury.

The news came just a few hours after the Sky had listed Reese as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dallas Wings with a wrist injury.

Reese, the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, had a rookie season that exceeded expectations. She became a double-double machine throughout the year, breaking Candace Parker's record for most consecutive double-doubles of all time. She also led the league in rebounds and broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season.

But what caused Reese's injury?

Before Reese announced the official cause of her injury, WNBA fans were quick to try and figure out how it happened. Many have come to the consensus that she hurt her wrist midway through the fourth quarter against the Sparks, where Reese hit the floor and landed awkwardly on her arm/hand.

Although it is not confirmed, it certainly would make sense that this is indeed the moment it happened, especially since she was taken out of the game shortly after.

"I guess this was where the Angel Reese injury happened yesterday," one fan said.

"When it happened, I couldn’t tell if she was grabbing her wrist or her elbow, but I knew something was hurt. Praying she gets some much needed rest as she recovers."

"It was definitely this play.."

"You can see when she went down she grabs her wrist"

"She clearly landed on her hand"

Reese finished her rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds. She also led the Sky to a playoff position, even with the recent seven-game losing streak. The next time we will see Angel will be during the new 3-on-3 Unrivaled league, which starts in January.
