WNBA Facing Backlash From Caitlin Clark Fans Over Playoff Scheduling

The WNBA is under fire from Caitlin Clark fans over their playoff scheduling decisions.

After losing in her WNBA playoff debut, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are taking on the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night in what could be the final game of her historic rookie season. The Fever lost game one of the series 93-69, as they couldn't seem to find a consistent rhythm.

This game was in Connecticut as the Sun had the higher seed, earning home-court advantage. That said, game two will also be in Connecticut, rather than Indiana. In the WNBA's three-game series format, the team with home court advantage gets to play the first two games at home, and the third on the road.

This has led to some backlash on Twitter or "X" after Iowa Hawkeyes reporter David Eickholt pointed this formatting out.

Fans in the comment section didn't hold back in response to this post.

One Caitlin Clark fan page said, "the fact that your team can make it to the playoffs and you're not even guaranteed a chance to see them play at home is mind boggling."

"Due to the (Catilin) Clark effect, the spotlight is now fully on the WNBA and it has been mind blowing to see how poorly run this league is," said another fan.

Another added, "This format is pre-CC (Caitlin Clark). I agree it has to be adjusted to accommodate the increase in demand."

It's clear that there will be a push for change next season as the league continues to grow in popularity.  A lot of the comments attribute the issue to money, which shouldn't be a problem going forward as Clark has had a historic impact on the league. Hopefully her incredible season lives on tonight, making it a thrilling series.
