Bermuda vs. Nicaragua: Concacaf Gold Cup Prediction and Preview

It's the end of the line for these two teams but they're hoping to leave the United States with at least one win and their heads held high. Bermuda and Nicaragua have had a tough time, to say the least, at the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Group B hasn't been kind to them, but thankfully it's almost over. Now they must face one another before heading back to their respective homelands as both teams have already been eliminated from advancing to the knockout stage.

Bermuda vs. Nicaragua

When: Monday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m ET

Where: Red Bull Arena (Harrison, N.J.)

TV: FS1 and Univision

Three Things to Watch

1. No offense to speak of

Between these two squads, Bermuda is the only one to score in the Gold Cup thus far. Bermuda registered one goal each in losses to both Haiti and Costa Rica. Perhaps this team has another goal or two in it. Nicaragua, on the other hand, has been outscored 6-0 in losses to the same teams and have started to look lifeless on the field. Somebody has to score in this game.

2. Players to watch

Defender Dante Leverock and forward Nahki Wells have been the scorers for Bermuda in this Gold Cup. Expect them to be at the forefront again for this game. While Nicaragua hasn't scored, forward Byron Bonilla has led his country by taking 12 of his team's 16 shots on goal. He hopes to score an international goal before all is said and done.

3. Head-to-head

These two teams have split the previous four meetings. Nicaragua has won the two most recent encounters - both friendlies played in 2004 - by the combined score of 4-0. Bermuda's record against Central American teams is 4-7-3. Their lack of experience against Central American opponents could be a factor in this one.

Final Analysis

Bermuda has been able to score in this tournament. So unless Nicaragua can finally find a way to get the ball into the net, Bermuda will go back home with three hard-earned points.

Prediction: Bermuda 1, Nicaragua 0
