It's only fitting that Week 5 of the XFLseason could serve as a turning point. Besides representing the halfway mark of the regular season, Week 5 could set the tone for the rest of the schedule based on some of the matchups.
And the action starts in Houston with the undefeated Roughnecks hosting the Seattle Dragons. Seattle figures to enter this game a heavy underdog, but if the Dragons have any thoughts on contending for a playoff spot, they better figure out a way to knock off Houston at home.
Saturday's other game also takes place in the Lone Star State as the Dallas Renegades host the New York Guardians. The Renegades will try and rebound from last week's loss with Philip Nelson likely to get the start at quarterback in place of an injured Landry Jones. Meanwhile, the Guardians figure to give Luis Perez the nod after he helped the team snap its two-game losing streak.
On Sunday, the East-leading St. Louis BattleHawks will take their show on the road against a reeling DC Defenders team that has lost its last two games by a combined 55 points. That's not a typo.
The Week 5 finale has the Tampa Bay Vipers looking to win their second in a row as they head west to face the Los Angeles Wildcats. Tampa Bay ran wild (266 rushing yards) in picking up its first win last week against DC. Los Angeles also enters this game 1-3 after dropping a tough one on the road to New York.
