Kevin O’Connell Gives Unfortunate Injury Update After Vikings’ Preseason Opener

The Minnesota Vikings hosted the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon and secured an impressive 20-10 victory in their preseason opener.
While there were many positives from players on both sides of the ball, all eyes turned to wide receiver Rondale Moore, who was seen in severe pain on the sideline after an awkward tackle.
Several teammates gathered around him as he took a knee before being carted off. This injury is especially concerning as Moore had just finished rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered last season with the Atlanta Falcons during a joint offseason practice.
After the game, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell provided an update on Moore’s status, revealing he has reportedly sustained a “pretty significant” left knee injury. Moore is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the full extent of the damage.
The Vikings also lost 2025 undrafted free agent Zeke Correll on the offensive line to a right ankle fracture, confirmed by X-rays taken shortly after the injury.
“Wanted to update you all, unfortunately, on two injuries. It looks like Rondale Moore has a pretty significant left knee injury. We won’t know the full extent until we get the MRI tomorrow. Then, you saw late in the game that Zeke Correll went down — we’ve already X-rayed him, and it’s a right ankle fracture. I’m bummed we lost those two guys, but outside of that, our team came out relatively healthy. Anytime you lose players to significant injuries, it’s something you absolutely hate to see.”
Both Rondale Moore and Zeke Correll likely faced uphill battles to make the final roster. Moore, especially, had a prime opportunity to prove himself—given Jordan Addison’s suspension for the first three games and Moore’s value on special teams
Now, the pressure increases on Justin Jefferson, Jalen Nailor, and likely Taj Felton, Lucky Jackson, and Thayer Thomas to step up and fill the void while Addison is out.
